The ‘real story’ behind Princess Kate and Meghan Markle’s bridesmaid crying row

The tailor responsible for sorting out the bridesmaid dresses for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s big day confirmed what really happened.

Over the years, the infamous argument between Princess Kate and Meghan Markle over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress has been well-documented, with royal fans in dispute over what really went down between the sister-in-laws.

Last year, the dress tailor who sorted the bridesmaid dresss spokeout for the first time since Meghan and Harry’s wedding in 2018 and shared exactly what happened to cause such a fall out.

According to the tailor Ajay Mirpuri, the atmosphere leading up to the wedding was so tense that he was “not surprised” the situation ended in tears.

The 46-year-old told the Daily Mail that he worked around the clock with three members of his staff to finish the dresses after it was discovered that none of the six bridesmaids’ dresses fitted.

Mr Mirpuiri told Daily Mail: “I’ve no idea what measurements Givenchy had received, but with our experience and knowledge we could see straight away that all six bridesmaids’ dresses had to be fixed, as they weren’t going to fit.”

When asked about the argument, he said he could understand “why anybody would be upset” as the dresses majorly disrupted the plans.

He said: “If anything happened in the background, it didn’t happen in front of me.

“But yes, weddings are stressful at the best of times – and especially one at this high level; you’ve got to respect that.

“They were faced with a problem like anyone gets at a wedding, with last-minute hitches. I can understand why anybody would be upset if the dresses weren’t fitting – it’s nerve-wracking.”

The tailor said: “I feel for them all because you wouldn’t want the children to go out on a big stage in an ill-fitting dress – and that’s what they were.

“All six bridesmaids’ dresses had to be fixed, and we did it. I’m a royalist and I wanted to do whatever I could with my small business to serve the Royal Family.”

The tailor’s interview came just after Prince Harry gave royal fans an insight into the disagreement in his memoir Spare.

He said how the row began when Kate sent Meghan a text that her daughter, Princess Charlotte, was crying because her dress was “too big, too long, too baggy”.

According to Harry, Meghan told Kate she had a tailor “waiting all day” at Kensington Palace in order to make adjustments and urged Kate to bring Charlotte there to have the dress altered.

Kate allegedly responded: “No, all the dresses need to be remade.”

Meghan repeated that Charlotte should see the designer, to which Kate is said to have replied: “Fine.”

The Prince then claimed his wife was left “sobbing” after the ordeal, which reportedly happened just days before the wedding.
