It’s that time of year again, children worldwide are making their way back to school, including the Waleses, who had their first day back today.
Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, all attend Lambrook School and next year George will be heading to boarding school, but the location has yet to be announced.
Daily Express US spoke to Brittani Barger, co-founder of Royal News, about this milestone moment.
Barger said: “I think George, Charlotte and Louis are just like any other kids their age. They have titles but at the end of the day, they are still children.
“William and Catherine have worked hard to make sure they have as normal childhoods as possible. I think that includes things like picking out school supplies.”
Prince William and Princess Kate are known to be hands-on parents, but because of security reasons, they may not be able to take the children shopping for notebooks and pencils at the local stationary store.
According to Barger, the Waleses may have to go about back-to-school shopping in a more “discreet way,” but even so, she believes this to be “a normal childhood moment they can enjoy.”
We asked Barger abut how things might be different for the Wales children on their first day and as they move through the school year with the royal expert putting a spotlight on security.
She said: “Obviously, security measures have to be taken out for the children at school, so that makes the process a bit different for William and Catherine.”
She added: “Most parents don’t have to worry about security sweeps and their children being such high-profile potential targets.”
It may add a layer of stress, says the royal expert, but also bring a sense of relief knowing they “have protection officers with them at all times.”
