The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are growing closer to Harry’s cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, a move that could cause problems for Prince William
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will look to take advantage of Princess Kate‘s recovery from cancer as a key alliance with another royal pair emerged. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have become estranged from most of Harry’s family after a series of attacks on the Royals.
They quit royal life in 2020 and set up a new base in the USA. And this year has seen them branch out, partaking in ‘de facto’ royal tours to the likes of Nigeria and Colombia.
They have proved successful for Harry and Meghan and comes at a time Kate is effectively sidelined as she focuses on her health. It has also been suggested that the Sussexes are reconnecting with Harry’s cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew.
Eugenie and Harry are especially close and she has visited him in the US. Despite Harry and Meghan’s disdain for Andrew, they see his daughters as being unconnected to Meghan’s time in the UK, according to The Mirror.
But Royal author Tom Quinn reckons the alliance spells bad news for William, who is believed to be the major stumbling block preventing any chance of a reconciliation between Harry and his father, King Charles. Quinn said: “For William and Kate an alliance between Harry and Meghan and Beatrice and Eugenie is a huge worry.
“They sense that Beatrice and Eugenie feel that, as virtual outcasts themselves, they have far more in common with Harry and Megan than with any other part of the family. The situation is made worse by the fact that the senior royals’ main asset – Kate herself – is effectively out of action while she continues her treatment for cancer.”
He added: “The worry for the senior royals is that after their tour of Nigeria, Harry and Meghan will seize the initiative, revelling in positive publicity while Kate is forced to stay in the background.” Quinn went on to say Harry and Meghan have kept in touch with Beatrice and Eugenie despite their American move.
He added: “Although Harry and Meghan have little sympathy for Prince Andrew, they’ve kept in regular contact with Beatrice and Eugenie who have always been free of any associations with Meghan’s angry, bitter time in the UK.”
Princess Kate has been largely absent from the public eye since Christmas last year. She announced in March she was undergoing treatment for cancer and has only been seen a handful of times. With the King also undergoing cancer treatment, it has sparked a crisis within The Firm as other royals are asked to step up.
